Self Isolation

In this moment of self-isolation during the COVID-19 Virus, that is affecting us all in such profound ways, I've been thinking in the meaning of things, not just as a society but also personally. When our personal space takes on a whole new meaning....

IT MEANS A LOT

We are here to help create or adapt just the perfect one for you, being your home, a nook, your yard, your bedroom, a home office or even your bathroom…make it special, make it yours.

WE HELP

Residential construction has been designated as "essential service" and as that we are continuing to work.

Rest assure that us and everyone involved in the "Contemporaria family" is taking every precaution and following every single recommendation in our homes as well as in yours.

WE CARE

Wanted to share with all of you, my friends, my collaborators, my family, my clients, my business partners for over 20 years, my raw feelings in this such horrific moment… that is touching us all, anywhere we are, whoever we are, we are ONE.

I am trying not to take myself too seriously at this time of uncertainty and to see things with a different pair of eyes.

Trying not to be selfish but to share,

Trying not to be scared but optimistic,

Trying not to take too much but to give,

Trying not to feel guilty but rewarded,

Trying not to feel trapped but inspired,

Trying not to talk to loud but to listen….

Just trying…. to be better.

I am missing….

I am dreaming….

I am drinking…. (maybe a bit too much)

I am hoping….

I am growing….

I am cooking….

I am eating….

I am joking….

I am masking….

and masking….

I am creating….

I am building….

I am praying….

I am flying….

And certainly I am HOPING for all of us…. as ONE,

New COVID-19 Communication

NEW COVID-19 COMMUNICATION:

Dear Contemporaria Family,

Due to the constant evolution of the situation caused by COVID-19 and in accordance with the new directives issued throughout the world, we want to inform you that many delays may occur.

Today the Maryland & Virginia Governors signed an executive order which institutes a stay at home directive. No Maryland or Virginia resident should be leaving their home unless it is for essential job or an essential reason.

The Italian government issued on March 22nd, which include many of our manufacturers, to prolong the suspension of activities at factories and headquarters until April 6th.

We remain active and available in smart-working and we will respond to your requests! Please know there may be delays in samples, product information, orders, and deliveries. We will do our best to accommodate in these trying times and update you on further developments.

Georgetown Store

Dear all,

I opened contemporaria 21 years ago in a printing plant in Bethesda and moved to Georgetown 5 years after that. It has been an amazing ride with clients becoming friends, a neighborhood becoming a second home and my store becoming the center of it all.

After many hard thoughts I decided I am ready for a new chapter in my life. I’m not closing .... don’t you worry, I'm just changing the way I do business.

I am moving to an office in Potomac MD, where I will continue with the interior design and furniture part of my business. Instead of being in a showroom/retail space, I will now be in a more intimate environment.

All ongoing projects and orders will not be disturbed, we will continue to work with our manufacturers and suppliers from our "new home". I’m making this transition at the end of February and I truly hope you keep in touch and visit! (It's just a 20 minute drive and has plenty of free parking ....)

In the meantime, we are selling all our beautiful showroom pieces, so if you are looking for an extra chair or a full-size kitchen, this is a great time to browse.

We will be sending an email with the pieces on sale but feel free to contact us if you need detailed information.

I want to personally thank all of you, from the bottom of my heart for these 21 amazing years and for the amazing years to come.
